What will they think of next?
Contributed by: Glenn Train on 9/30/2005

This is the first time I've been this involved in anything, this size. I am the president of SWORD - South Westminster Organized for Responsible Development. Yesterday afternoon, when I got home from work I noticed that all, save two, of the signs that read "Walmart is a bad neighbor" were gone from my street. After dinner, I cruised through my neighborhood to discover all of these signs were gone from my neighborhood all together. It's not hard to imagine who is behind the thefts.

"What's next?" I asked myself. I soon found out that there are people calling around and telling registered voters that a "no vote" on 2A and 2B is a vote against Walmart. Not only is this a lie, but also I've it is illegal!

On my way to the SWORD meeting Wednesday night, I noticed two signs on the very corner that has been an issue since last March, Saying "Revitalize this corner, Vote no on 2A and 2B". While I was waiting for the light to change and watching people turn from Sheridan onto west 72nd Avenue I watched a woman look up at thiese signs, and almost head on with another woman who was in the turn lane.

So, I have to ask the question - "What will they think of next?" I am almost afraid to ask. I'm told, in no uncertain terms, "it will get a lot worse before it gets any better."

There are 2200 union workers that live in Westminster who are standing with us as GOLIATH gets closer. The shadow looms longer and wider than most people realize, just don't stand too close when we throw the stone...
