Standley Lake's Prom 2008
Contributed by: Cheryl Krug on 4/30/2008

OK, you have spent hours shopping for the perfect dress, made sure you found shoes to match that perfect dress, made appointments for hair and nails, made sure you had dinner reservations, made sure your date rented a tux to match your perfect dress, maybe even rented a limo, and just like that prom night is over.

Friday, April 25, was Standley Lake's prom night. It was held at the Belmar Center in Lakewood. The dance went from 7 p.m. until 11, with the after-prom starting at midnight and going until 4 a.m. They went from dancing the night away to an evening in New York. They entered Grand Central Station, walked up to the Statue of Liberty and on to Broadway and Central Perk. In the gymnasium, there was plenty of fun to be had with inflatable rides and activities from Fun Services. There was even a special room just for the casino where students could gamble the night away.

As a parent, I just wanted to say thank you to Kristy Melling and Billie Warren for taking over as head of the prom committee. They spent plenty of time getting volunteers and prizes to make this event special for the kids. This is a big project and I hope the students of Standley Lake appreciate what it takes to pull this together.
