Evangelical pro-lifers against Mitt Romney
Contributed by: Jamie Schofield on 2/6/2008

Mitt Romney claims, "On every piece of legislation, I came down on the side of life." [Romney. com; Washington Post]

That is a lie. Mitt Romney is a pro-abortion liar who will flip-flop his stance on abortion to change with the political winds, to get elected wherever he goes. And here is the detailed corroboration of the facts:

** In April 2006 Romney signed [Boston Globe] the Massachusetts health insurance plan that pays for even elective abortions [Mass. gov; official site MassResources. org; CNS News].

** Romney today falsely claims a 1981 court ruling [Boston Globe; MittRomney. com] about "medically necessary" [St. Petersburg Times ; CNS News] abortions forced him to provide tax-funded elective abortion into law, showing he prioritizes socialized "health care" over protecting kids, even when it pays to kill them.

** Romney signed the 2005 bill that promotes chemical abortions with Plan B [Boston Globe; Mass. gov; Mass.gov/ legis].

** He gave a permanent seat on the Massachusetts health payment policy advisory board to the nation's leading abortionists at Planned Parenthood [ Mass.gov/legis].

** Romney claims to have been personally pro-life for many years [ CNN] but also claims a recent pro-life conversion on Nov. 9, 2004 while talking to Harvard researcher Douglas Melton about embryonic stem cells [Washington Post; ABC News ].

** However Romney still supports killing the babies of rapists. [ CNN]

** And Romney still openly supports killing those tiniest humans for embryonic research, which is the subject Dr. Melton spoke with him about, that supposedly made him pro-life. [NY Times ]

** Harvard's Dr. Melton has even disputed Romney's account of their conversation [Boston Globe; Washington Post].

** Pro-life Romney even attended a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood [ABC News].

** In October 2005 Romney asked the federal government for a waiver for a major increase in funding for abortion "counseling" and abortifacients [Boston Globe].

** Romney appointed openly pro-abortion Democrat Matt Nestor to a district court [ABC News ].

** Disputing a ruling on the side of life by his own state health department [Boston Globe], Romney personally argued in December 2005 that pro-life hospitals must dispense abortifacients [Boston Globe].

** During the years that Romney says he was personally pro-life he aggressively claimed to be second-to-none in asserting abortion as an essential right . [Weekly Standard]

** The Weekly Standard reports him telling the pro-abortion activists at NARAL, "you need someone like me in Washington" [Weekly Standard].

=====================================================

Please notice that after Romney's alleged "conversion" in 2004, he then:

signed the '05 bill promoting chemical abortions with Plan B,

asked the federal government in Oct. '05 for a major increase in funding for abortion "counseling" and abortifacients,

and personally argued in Dec.'05 that pro-life hospitals must dispense abortifacients.

In April '06 he signed the Massachusetts health insurance plan to pay for even elective abortions.

ROMNEY IS A PRO-ABORT LIAR, even by his own words.

Amen! After being exposed for the pro-abort liar that he is, in state after state, by ads produced by American Right to Life, Romney had little choice but quit. In every state the ads ran, he lost, even when he was expected to win. The truth hurts.
