I'll admit, I have found it hard to get in the holiday spirit the past couple of years. I can't really pinpoint the reason, but the last thing I want is to have anyone compare me to Ebenezer Scrooge or the Grinch. For that reason, I have decided to bolster my holiday enthusiasm by attempting to provide some help for local people who can use it.
I'll be writing a story about people and organizations in Arvada and Wheat Ridge who are trying to make the holidays a happier times for the less fortunate. The Arvada Community Food Bank, Jeffco Action Center, some local businessesand many area churches (feel free to tell me which ones and what they are doing for the holidays) are good examples of people working together to assist others. I'm also compiling a list of as many of these groups as possible to let your community know how it can help out.
Here's where I ask for your help.
While I'll be scouring the Web and other directories for information about organizations doing great things for the holidays and for local events that benefit the needy, I can't promise that I'll find them all. If you are involved in an organization, are holding a holiday benefit event, know someone else who is helping others for the holidays, etc., you can either post your information as a comment on this blog, call me at 303-954-2457or e-mail me at
daviss@yourhub.com.
I look forward to hearing from you and I hope this helps you get in the holiday spirit, too.
Here are a couple of holiday events your neighbors have posted on
