Priscilla Martinez, Exempla Lutheran Medical Center (ELMC) Emergency Department (ED) Registration Representative I in Wheat Ridge has received a full ride $1,200 scholarship to attend the winter technician training school from Criminal Justice Addiction Services in Lakewood (a private treatment and training company owned by
Rand Kannenberg, who is also an employee of West Pines; and his wife,
Patricia, an employee of Porter Adventist Hospital).
Priscilla received the financial award for the following reasons according to Rand Kannenberg who works with her in the ED at ELMC.
"She is an outstanding employee who practices and promotes quality patient care, excellent communication and problem solving and healthy teamwork and relationships. Priscilla is consistently positive with peers, physicians and supervisors, no matter how challenging the crisis."
When contacted, Priscilla's department manager,
Chassidy Creel, said that Priscilla was an excellent employee; she would hate to see her go, but understood that she wanted to advance her career and hopes that she decides to do so by staying at Exempla. Priscilla currently plans to become an Emergency Department Technician (EDT) before going
to nursing school. She is also a student at Red Rocks Community College.
The cash award is not tied into any program or plan. Priscilla is also free to use the funding in any other way if she decides not to attend the technician training program for any reason. It is a scholarship based on her performance to date and recognition of her gold standard dedication to healthcare and patient needs.
