Savvy and Silver Circle Awards Bestowed on City for Excellence in
WRTV8 Programming
WHEAT RIDGE, CO - The City of Wheat Ridge is pleased to announce that the City-County Communications Marketing Association (3CMA) has awarded the City's Channel 8 program with the following prestigious national awards recognizing outstanding local government achievement in communications:
Savvy (First place) award for the WRTV8 Top of the Hour: Comprehensive Plan program in the category of Regularly Scheduled Programming in the population category of 28,000 - 133,000.
The judges noted the Comprehensive Plan Top of the Hour program takes "a boring government topic-Comprehensive Planning-and makes it interesting! Well shot, lit and edited-production value is outstanding! Good use of resources."
Silver Circle (Second place) award for the Top of the Hour: Coffee with a Cop program in the category of Promotional Video in the population category of 16,000 - 60,000.
The judges commented on the Coffee with a Cop Top of the Hour program noting "Wonderful idea that was captured imaginatively on video. Every jurisdiction should look at this one and bring the idea home."
"We are very honored to receive these awards!" said Heather Geyer, Assistant to the City Manager/PIO who manages WRTV8. "Jesse Johnson, our contract videographer with I.O.T.K. Media is the creative talent behind this programming and his work is a great fit for our community."
Wheat Ridge Top of the Hour is a monthly, 7 to 12 minute program highlighting City services and programs. Top of the Hour airs at the top of the hour throughout the day in between other regularly scheduled programming.
"Top of the Hour is an informative and entertaining way to let citizens know what is going on in the City," said Mayor Jerry DiTullio. "If you haven't seen an episode you need to check it out!"
WRTV8 programming is available to subscribers of Comcast Cable on Channel 8. Additionally, non-cable subscribers may access WRTV8 programming on demand, online at www.ci.wheatridge.co.us, click on the video streaming button on the left side of the homepage. Founded in 1988, 3CMA is the leading organization for local governments that are creating new and better ways of communicating with their citizens by viewing them as customers with important input into the kinds of services offered and how they are provided. 3CMA awards cities and counties with Savvy Awards, Silver Circle Awards and Awards of Excellence (first, second and third-place, respectively) each year in 10 categories. This year, approximately 900 entries were submitted from across the nation.\
