Seniors' Resource Center has announced the election of Anne H. McKinley, a public policy expert in the field of gerontology; and Emily S. Robinson, president of FirstBank of Arvada, as its two new members of its board of directors.

John Zabawa, President/CEO of Seniors' Resource Center, said, "It is gratifying that community members with such diverse backgrounds in both the public and private sector come together in innovative ways to meet the new challenges posed by Colorado's coming demographic age wave.

"Seniors' Resource Center relies on the talents and goodwill of leaders like Anne and Emily to carry out our mission by coordinating intensive transportation, adult day and respite care, in-home care programs, mental health outreach, job training, foothills and care navigation services in order to improve the quality of life for our region's older adults," he said.

Formed in 1978 with the support of the Jefferson County Council on Aging and the Jeffco Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Seniors' Resource Center, a private non-profit organization, works to preserve and maximize the independence and personal dignity of older adults in order to help them live more comfortably in their own home as they age.

Robinson holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Mississippi State University and a graduate degree in Banking from the University of Colorado. She began with FirstBank in 1993, becoming executive vice president of FirstBank of Colorado in 2005 and President of FirstBank of Arvada in February 2008. She currently serves on the board for the Jefferson Foundation and is the former board chair of Clinica Campesina Family Health Services. Prior volunteer positions include board member of the West Chamber of Commerce; board member of the Jefferson County Workforce Center; and volunteer for Parent Pathways.

McKinley holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver and has specialized training and certification in geriatrics and gerontology. She is a member of the Seniors' Resource Center Legislative Advisory Council and Evergreen Advisory Board. She has served in multiple roles at both the state and national level in policy development for older adults issues such as mental health planning, Medicaid-funded programming, volunteering, and rural senior needs.

A retired clinical social worker, McKinley was a Congressional Fellow with U.S. Senator John McCain in the late 1990s, focusing on legislation to reauthorize the Older Americans Act. She is a past member of the Governor's Advisory Council on Aging in Arizona, and has served to distinction on the board of directors of the National Council on Aging, where she is a current member of its National Leadership Council. She has consulted on multiple curricula and community outreach educational series for older adults and their caregivers.
