Dear Neighbor,
-
It seems hard to believe that four years have passed since my husband, Jerry DiTullio, was elected as our Mayor for the City of Wheat Ridge. But, those four years have gone by and heis now up for re-election in November.
-
During his time as Mayor, he has accomplished a lot and I'm very proud of him for it.He has initiated programs such as the Senior Circulator Bus for Wheat Ridge seniors, the Citizens' Budget Oversight Committee and the Mayor's Public Art Initiative. The night of July 20, when that terrible storm swept through Wheat Ridge, he was on the phone with the City Manager well after midnight making arrangements to open the tree limb dump site that was free to Wheat Ridge residents. He went on to fight for a 50% rebate of building permit fees for residents making storm-related repairs on their properties.
-
This is the kind of dedication I have witnessed in him for the last 14 years - 10 years as a City Council member and 4 years as Mayor. As busy as he is, I am amazed at how he makes the time to respond to and follow through on email requests, return phone calls and just talk with citizens to get their opinions and input on various issues. A firm believer in quality over quantity, Jerry knows how to manage his time and as a result, the Mayor's Office operates ina productive and efficient manner.
-
In these tough economic times, our city continues to need a Mayor who can face the challenges at hand, think on his feet and run fair and productive council meetings. The Mayor must have a thorough understanding of the city charter, the city budget, council rules and parliamentary procedure. Jerry has this knowledge and he has the know-how to use it wisely.
-
It hasn't always been easy and of course there have been times when he was not in agreement with members of City Council. But, that is a key part of the democratic process. Just like government at the state and federal levels, it is a system of checks and balances. A Mayor and City Council that agree on everything would not be a fair and balanced representation of the citizens of Wheat Ridge. And in all these years Jerry has served on City Council and as Mayor, he has never forgotten what he is there to do - represent the citizens.
-
This year's election is a mail-in ballot only. Ballots will be mailed to you from the county around October 16 th and should be mailed back no later than October 29th. You may also drop off your ballot at Wheat RidgeCity Hall anytime until 7pm on November 3rd. We would appreciate your vote!
-
Sincerely,
-
Julie DiTullio
