Six Wheat Ridge teachers nominated for excellence
Contributed by: Bobbi Reynolds on 5/13/2008

"I have never felt so honored, touched, and proud to be a teacher," said Marcella Hiebert, a Wheat Ridge High School teacher. Marcella was one of six local teachers nominated by their students at the 6th Annual Teacher Appreciation Evening hosted by the public affairs council of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Each year, local LDS students nominate teachers who have made a tremendous difference in the lives of those they teach. In addition to Mrs. Hiebert, other WRHS teachers Gayle Miller and Janine Burns also received special recognition from seniors Brittany Padgett and the graduating seniors from The Wheat Ridge Singers, a jazz vocal ensemble from WRHS.

"I enjoyed the evening so much!" said Ms. Miller. "It was uplifting and encouraging to be treated in such a special way." Prospect Valley Elementary graduate Marissa Jarvis nominated teacher Crista Hankinson, who also had a great time. "As educators," she said, "receiving the lovely acknowledgments from those we serve is more special than anyone can imagine."

Robbie Davidson, teacher at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Middle School, was nominated by former student Jennifer Schrant, and Vicki Duckworth, a private piano instructor and accompanist at WRHS, was nominated by WRHS senior Emily Wood.
