Put literacy on your holiday shopping list! The Literacy Coalition of Colorado will join with Barnes and Noble Bookstore's Southwest Plaza store to sponsor a Bookfair, Saturday, December 8, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
With an extended purchase time, all sales from Dec. 1 - 8 will earn a percentage for the Coalition by customers presenting a voucher or telling the cashier before making the purchase that you are supporting the Literacy Coalition of Colorado. Even Café consumables will be counted toward the LCC donation.
Photographer John Fielder will be on hand Dec. 8, from 3 - 4 p.m., to autograph his latest book. Best known for books depicting Colorado landscapes, Fielder and Claudia Cangilla McAdam have teamed to produce a second children's book, Maria's Mysterious Mission.
The book tells of a homesick llama in Colorado who is on a mysterious mountain trek. Gorgeous original art merges with Fielder's wonderful scenic photographs to illustrate the unique story.
On Dec. 1, local mystery writer and attorney Jim Michael Hansen will be at the bookstore to autograph the latest in his series of legal mysteries. His first two books, Night Laws and Night Shadows are set in Denver. You may recognize Denver locales and celebrities though the names have been changed.
On Dec. 8 LCC members will be doing a Storytime for children at 10 a.m. with a craft activity and refreshments afterwards.
The Barnes and Noble Bookstore is located at 8136 W. Bowles Avenue on the southeast corner of Bowles and Wadsworth. Entrance to the shopping mall is on Bowles east of Wadsworth.
