Dream Dinners to give $200 in meals each month
Contributed by: Jim Eddy on 7/24/2008

Dream Dinners, originator of the meal-assembly business, Wheat Ridge location announces "Nurture Your Neighbor", a community driven program to provide $200 worth of dinners every month to a local family in need. The program resonates with the franchise owner, Carol Nixon, who lost a close family member several years ago and saw first hand the benefit of having food brought to her family from the church and neighbors. However, this food was fresh and had to be eaten within days so Nixon felt that she could take it one step further and provide families facing similar misfortunes with a month's worth of home-style meals in their freezer that they can use as needed.

"As a local business we feel it is our responsibility to give back and support the local community that supports us," said Nixon. "Because of what my family went through I recognized an opportunity to help people and hopefully provide them some peace of mind that their meals are taken care of during difficult times."

Nominations for families in need are being accepted on a monthly basis starting August 1st via e-mail to kiplingi70co@dreamdinners.com or in-person at 4980 Kipling Street, Unit A3. Examples of eligible families include, but are not limited to, those with a debilitating disease; have suffered the loss of a family member, or the loss of their home in a fire, or are struggling to make ends meat due to extenuating circumstances. Nominations should be 1,000 words or less, include the nominator's name and contact information and should include a complete description of the family and their situation. The winning family for August will be announced on August 15th.

Once the family is announced, Dream Dinners Wheat Ridge will schedule a special session for making their meals. People interested in helping can either donate meals (cash value) or they can donate their time by volunteering to help make the meals on the scheduled session date. For more information on how you can contribute to the family, contact the Dream Dinners Wheat Ridge store at 303-432-3110.
