Carnation Festival seeks sponsorship for 2008
Contributed by: Tom Meiers on 7/12/2008

Dear Holder of the Purse Strings,

By all accounts the Wheat Ridge Carnation Festival Committee Inc is on to something great w/ the new and improved version of this annual event. In 2007 we offered improved staging, big name entertainment, increased community involvement, free shuttle buses, an improved Festival program and another safe successful Thursday Teen night (Pitchfork Pandemonium) w/ skateboard competition & Battle of the Bands.

Attendance soared and the community is excited again.

We of the Wheat Ridge Carnation Festival Committee Inc are especially excited about our new partnership w/ The Wheat Ridge Foundation. As the city's long range supporter of many of the best activities and groups in Wheat Ridge, we are hopeful our thankless task of seeking yearly sponsorship money by mostly inexperienced Festival volunteer will become less tenuous and difficult. Our shared goal is to eventually set up an endowment which will help fund the Festival year after year...forever. Our alliance allows businesses and or individuals to receive charitable 501c(3) donation deductions.

The future looks good but today (back to reality) we continue to need your help. Good things cost money. Like any community event of this type, we depend on corporate involvement by community leaders such as you & your organization. Please consider your financial involvement in Wheat Ridge's premier community event. Contrary to popular belief, the Festival is NOT 'put on' by the city. While the City is invaluable to the success of the Carnation Festival, we receive only percentage of our annual budget from Wheat Ridge. This has always been a citizen driven event.. We cannot continue the success of 2005-2007 nor have the same type of Festival in 2008 w/o considerable financial help from the community. We run a lean operation that depends on countless volunteer hours, but doubling the number of Port-A-Potties, etc cost money.

We believe that the Carnation Festival offers a timely and unique opportunity for your organization to 'meet the people', in a fun, non-threatening way and advance your business in the Wheat Ridge area. We hope the Carnation Festival can continue or now begin a long and beneficial relationship with your company regarding sponsorship involvement.

Please call w/ any questions regarding the Festival. Online we are at www.WheatRidgeCarnationFestival.org if you want to see what the Carnation Festival is now all about.

Thank you,

Brett Kelly
