Ed and
Vera Heidenreich will be cruising up to their 60th wedding anniversary on August 10, 2007. They are both native Denverites from the Globeville area and have lived in Wheat Ridge since 1962. They were married in 1947 when Vera graduated from North High School and 'Corporal' Eddie returned from World War II.
He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was presented the Purple Heart medal. Eddie retired from the U.S.D.A. after 30 years in the meat grading service. Vera was active raising their two daughters,
LaDene and
Debbie in Girl Scouts, Elitch Gardens dance lessons in tap and ballet, interspersed with weekly pinochle parties and square dancing. Summers were spent camping, fishing and touring most of the Rocky Mountain States. Most weekends were spent building their solar home in South Park near Como, Colorado. Later in their empty nester year's both Eddie and Vera were involved as volunteers at the Molly Brown House as tour guide, helpers and gardening for 27 years.
Since 1968, Vera has been designing/director of Wheat Ridge High School Musical costumes i.e. known as "MAMA H", also helping with other musicals in Jefferson County Schools. Present days are filled with Wheat Ridge Senior Center activities and Specialty Tours trips, enjoying traveling when ever they can. The couple has enjoyed 9 cruises and paddle boat trips.
Vera is involved in Red Hatters and Eddie spends evenings at the local I.O.O.F Lodge. Fine weather finds both thoroughly loving their Victorian style gardens and gazebo centered on Eddie's apple tree graphed with 5 kinds of apples.
They will be honored with a special celebration with family and friends at Rossi's Banquet Room.
