Silvana DelPiccolo, a graduating senior at Wheat Ridge High School, received the $2,500 Applewood Kiwanis Scholarship Award, at the Club's May 20 breakfast meeting. Silvana is the daughter of Aldo and Michelle Del Piccolo and the family lives in Lakewood. Lisa Berens, counselor at Wheat Ridge High School, was present as were Silvana's parents.

The Applewood Kiwanis Scholarship Award is presented each year to an outstanding graduating senior at Wheat Ridge High School. The award is based on the student's participation in school activities, school leadership positions, volunteer service to the school and the community in which the student lives, and clear goals which may include a furthering commitment of service in the future.

Silvana is planning to attend the University of San Diego for a degree in Education and Peace Studies.

Hays Busch is a member of the Applewood Kiwanis Club.
