On Tuesday, August 5, the City of Wheat Ridge will be celebrating the 25th Annual National Night Out . The National Night Out celebration is a way to promote an evening of community-wide block parties that offer neighbors a chance to become acquainted and unite in crime prevention and drug resistance.
The kick-off celebration for National Night Out will be held at Hayward Park in Wheat Ridge on Monday, August 4, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Attendees can take tours of the Wheat Ridge Police Department and visit displays from the Police and Fire Departments, SWAT, crime scene investigation team, crime prevention unit, Live-Well Wheat Ridge, The Victim's Advocacy Center, and many more. There will also be free pizza, cotton candy, and ice cream. Free face painting, balloon animals, an inflatable jumping castle and a rollover accident simulator will also be available.
On August 5, members of the Wheat Ridge Police Department will be visiting local block parties and other neighborhood events to show their support for citizen driven crime prevention. To register your event and schedule a visit from a police officer, residents should contact Officer
Kyle Eversole
at 303-235-2948 or at keversole@ci.wheatridge.co.us.
"The reduction and prevention of crime is a responsibility shared by our Police Department and the law abiding members of the Wheat Ridge community, working together cooperatively," said Police Chief
Dan Brennan
. "National Night Out brings citizens and police officers together to strengthen neighborhood spirit and foster partnerships for safer communities; and it sends a clear message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime and disorder. I encourage all citizens to take the opportunity to participate in this important community event!"
For more information please contact Officer Kyle Eversole of the Wheat Ridge Police Department at 303-235-2948 or at keversole@ci.wheatridge.co.us.
Lisa Stigall is the public information officer for the Wheat Ridge Police Department.
