Beer truck overturns, driver arrested for DUI
Contributed by: Lisa Stigall on 11/12/2008

On Nov. 11 at about 7:30 p.m., a semi tractor-trailer rig hauling a 45,000 pound trailer full of beer, overturned on the curve of the CO-58 off ramp to eastbound I-70. The ramp was closed for seven hours while the accident was investigated and the beer off loaded into another trailer so the truck could be set up right.

The truck driver, Bobby Dodge, 56, of McGregor, Texas, was not injured but was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Eastbound drivers were detoured to westbound I-70 where they could turn around at the Denver West Parkway exit and return to eastbound I-70 until approximately 2:30 a.m. when the ramp was re-opened.

None of the beer was spilled onto the roadway in last night's accident.

Lisa Stigall is the public information officer for the Wheat Ridge Police Department.
