Volunteer Honored at annual luncheon

Volunteer Connection of Jefferson County held their 21st annual volunteer recognition luncheon during National Volunteer Week. Emceed by Jim Benemann of CBS News 4, the event held at Copper Fields Events Chateau, honored over sixty volunteers from all over the county. Included were Wheat Ridge volunteers: Shirley Barone, Maria Bohte, Virginia Cellers, Barbara Johnson and Isobelle Neal. Also honored was Elaine Craig of Edgewater.

Volunteer Connection member agencies collect volunteer hours each year. In 2005, more than 7500 volunteers worked in Jefferson County giving over 560,000 hours at an hourly value of 18.04 (per independentsector.org) for a value of over $9.3 million dollars of service to the community.
