Wheat Ridge High School begins remodel effort
Contributed by: Office of the Mayor on 6/26/2006

Wheat Ridge High School is in the early stages of a much needed remodeling project.

This remodel will assist the high school in attaining a competitive edge as a school of choice in central Jefferson County. In addition to the high school remodel, an athletic field committee has been formed to raise funds to upgrade the athletic fields from grass to a very high quality artificial turf.

This turf will conserve precious water, require less maintenance and look green year-round. The fields will be used by the school, sports and band practice, and the city of Wheat Ridge for youth sports programs sponsored by the city.

A fundraising mailing was sent out to Wheat Ridge residents last week describing the efforts. This effort is directly related to the Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy of cooperation between Wheat Ridge and the high school.

The field committee will be meeting with service organizations, Wheat Ridge alumni and parents, Wheat Ridge 2020 and the city of Wheat Ridge to describe the efforts and to promote partnering.

I am excited about the direction we are heading on this worthwhile project. You will hear more about this effort in the weeks and months ahead.

The city's Web site is www.ci.wheatridge.co.us. You also can discover information about our city on cable channel 8.
