Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, Cemetery and Arboretum presents renowned flamenco guitarist
Ottmar Liebert
and
Luna Negra
in concert to benefit Denver Botanic Gardens at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 29.
Liebert and Luna Negra are known for the Nouveau Flamenco style that mixes elements of flamenco with jazz, bossa nova and other genres. Liebert, whose debut album Nouveau Flamenco has become the biggest-selling guitar album of all time, performed at Crown Hill's first benefit concert in 2006. Last year Native American flutist
Carlos Nakai
and cellist
Udi Bar-David
delighted concertgoers by melding the melodic sounds of the Native American flute with classical music. Both concerts benefited Collier Hospice Center at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center.
Denver Botanic Gardens will be the recipient of this year's concert in celebration of horticultural treasures. During Crown Hill's 100-year anniversary in 2007, the cemetery was designated an arboretum. Today it is one of densest urban forests on the Front Range and home to more than 1,750 trees, 21 of which are Colorado State Champions.
The concert will be held in Crown Hill's lodge-style Pavilion of Reflection, which is an intimate setting featuring floor-to-ceiling glass doors that provide magnificent views of giant trees and gardens within the sanctuary. Tiered stone terraces, a water features, fire pits also accentuate the peace and tranquility of this unique setting.
The performance will take place at the Pavilion of Reflection, located at Olinger Crown Hill, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge and tickets are now on sale. VIP admission is $125 per person and includes general seating in the front section of Pavilion of Reflection, parking, a pre-concert wine, beer and international cheese bar reception and a coffee, dessert and meet-and-greet with Ottmar Liebert and Luna Negra after the concert. General admission tickets are $75 per person and include the concert and parking.
