Wheat Ridge Family Dentistry, getting more hi-tech
Contributed by: Simon Moya-Smith/YourHub staff on 11/19/2008

Less than four percent of the practicing dentists across the nation have what Wheat Ridge Family Dentistry has: the Waterlase MD -- a laser that allows dentists to perform numerous traditional procedures with less anesthesia, according to Dr. Steven J. Zapien, D.D.S.

"It's really another instrument to provide optimal care to our patients," he said. "We can do a huge amount of cavity work without anesthesia. Patients really appreciate it and say, 'Hey, I didn't get numb today!' It works beautifully."

A 1989 graduate of the University of Colorado School of Dentistry, Dr. Zapien is the first in his family to graduate from an accredited university and has been a Wheat Ridge resident with wife, Amanda, and daughter, Elizabeth, since 1996.

"We opened Wheat Ridge Family Dentistry in 1992 and wanted to really take a family approach," he said. "And with this laser, it allows me to do just a little better job for my patients; it's about quality care and service."

Wheat Ridge Family Dentistry is currently welcoming new patients and accepts most dental plans. According to Dr. Zapien, he, as well as several members of his staff, are fluent in both English and Spanish.

"We're taking new clients all the time. We welcome everybody," said Dr. Zapien. "A trip to the dentist should be pleasant and fun. It's not Medieval. It's not like that anymore. Speak to your dentist. There are numerous things we now can do to make your visit a fun visit."

Wheat Ridge Family Dentistry is located at 4331 Harlan St., Wheat Ridge. For more information or to learn more about Dr. Zapien or the Waterlase MD, call 303-423-0584.
