CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN ON CABELA'S WHEAT RIDGE STORE

FALL 2008 STORE OPENING PROJECTED

DENVER - Cabela's announced today preliminary site work for its new Wheat Ridge store will begin this summer, while construction on the notable store is projected to begin in the fall. Cabela's anticipates the store to open late summer 2008, offering residents and visitors alike a selection of outdoor-recreation products unmatched in the region.

"We're very excited we were given the green light to move forward with this store," said Dennis Highby, Cabela's President and Chief Executive Officer. "We're particularly excited that this store will incorporate many energy-efficient and environmentally friendly construction techniques and materials, as well as a beautifully landscaped campus with plants and trees native to Colorado."

Cabela's expects to employ as many as 400 people from Wheat Ridge and the surrounding area, who will join Cabela's family of staff members famous for their outdoor lifestyle and intimate knowledge of outdoor products. Products will include hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating and wildlife watching gear, as well as outdoor clothing and outdoors-styled gifts and furnishings.

The Wheat Ridge store will be built in Cabela's trademark style that evokes the feeling of the outdoors. Cabela's stores are known as top-notch educational and entertainment attractions, mixing a décor of museum-quality animal displays with colorful dioramas, huge aquariums stocked with native fish and a centerpiece indoor mountain displaying trophy animals interacting in realistic re-creations of their natural habitats.

"This store is expected to spark development in the growing community of complementary businesses, such as motels, restaurants and other travel-related services," said Highby.

Preliminary work on improvements to the Interstate 70/Highway 58 interchange is underway by the Colorado Department of Transportation, including drainage and erosion-control projects. The Colorado Division of the Federal Highway Administration awarded a finding of no significant impact on the environmental assessment for the Cabela's development giving CDOT the go-ahead for road construction.
