The city of Wheat Ridge is pleased to announce the appointment of
John C. Schumacher Jr. to the position of chief building official.
"John's broad experience in building inspection will be very valuable to Wheat Ridge," said
Randy Young, city manager. "John's extensive experience serving in a variety of positions in several cities makes him an excellent fit for Wheat Ridge and our community's future."
John Schumacher comes to Wheat Ridge withmore than14 years of field experience working in residential and commercial construction industries in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and South Dakota. John also bringsnine years of experience in the building inspection field serving as a building official, building inspector and plans examiner in communities in South Dakota, Thornton and Aurora. His career highlight includes serving as chairman of a Planning and Zoning Commission where he was active in finding a resolution to floodplain and floodway issues that the community was facing.
"I am excited to be working at the city of Wheat Ridge," said John. "I chose Wheat Ridge because it is a city with a diverse group of building structures that presents the building official position with many unique challenges, thereby affording me the opportunity to apply my knowledge and experience to assist in the attainment of the building goals of the community."
John resides in Thornton and enjoys spending time with his wife
Carla and their three children,
Jessica,
Melanie and
Christopher. John is an avid baseball fan and has played the drums for 30 years.
