In 1977, the city adopted our official seal, which was designed by
Eron Johnson. The city clerk is responsible for the seal, affixing it to all official documents. The official city flag also features the seal in full color, which is flown at city hall and is in the city council chambers. The seal can also be seen around the city on signs, vehicles and city owned property.
Currently, the police department wears badges featuring the seal and the shoulder patch is a variation of the seal. Prior, the seal affixed to the insignia was the Colorado state seal. The older patches were variations of the Jeffco Sheriff patches, which were "shield" shaped, however after years of evolution, the Wheat Ridge patch was known as "Peanut Patches" due to the hourglass/peanut shape.
Currently, Wheat Ridge does not have an official city logo like many other local municipalities like Lakewood and Arvada. Both cities have official seals and logos, which are very different from the official seal used in official government business.
