On Sunday, October 23 and Monday, October 24, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close the southbound I-25 ramp to westbound US 36 from 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. in order to place the ramp into its final configuration and remove the asphalt on the old ramp. "Over the last several months, this ramp has been in a detour configuration so that the concrete reconstruction of southbound I-25 could take place," said CDOT Project Engineer Jim Powers. "Now that the reconstruction is complete in that area, we can move the ramp into its final configuration and then remove the remaining asphalt on the temporary ramp."
During the closure, southbound I-25 motorists needing access to westbound US 36 will have to take I-25 to 58th Avenue. Motorists will then take a left onto 58th Avenue and a left onto northbound I-25 where access to westbound US 36 is available. In addition, on Tuesday night, starting at 9 p.m., a single right lane of southbound I-25 from 84th Avenue to US 36 will be closed with an additional lane closing at 11 p.m. All lanes and the ramp will reopen by 5:30 a.m. the following morning. This bridge work is part of a project that constructs a 1400-foot long flyover ramp connecting southbound I-25 to eastbound I-270 and reconstructs southbound I-25 between 84th Avenue and I-76 in concrete. The new flyover is scheduled to open in November 2005. Sema Construction, Inc. of Littleton, CO is the contractor of this $20.5 million project.
