Cara Volle
’s story about how she and her dad became best friends through their love of the Denver Broncos won her AFC Championship Game tickets from YourHub.com.
Volle, 29, who is from Colorado Springs, wrote about discovering a way to relate with her father as a 5-year-old. All she had to do was plunk down on the couch for Sunday football. Their love of the Broncos kept them close even when growing pains sometimes makes a father-daughter relationship strained.
Volle picked up her pair of tickets at YourHub.com world headquarters Friday afternoon, ecstatic that she had won. She was sad, however, that her father is out of town and won’t be able to go to the game with her. Her boyfriend has selflessly offered to accompany her.
Her dad is visiting his wife’s children in Texas.
“I think he was kind of bummed,” Volle said. “But he likes my boyfriend, so he approves.”
She’s had a tough time getting the news out so far.
“I’ve tried to call everybody today but nobody is answering!”
Volle said that sharing what a great dad she had was all she wanted to accomplish, and the tickets are just icing on the cake.
“It was something that was important to me, just the story itself,” she said.
