Colorado Rockies skills challenge to be June 24 in Wheat Ridge
According to Wheat Ridge Rec Center marketing coordinator Connie Nelson, kids between the ages of 6 and 13 will have a chance to take part in this year's Colorado Rockies Baseball Skills Challenge scheduled for 9 a.m. June 24 at Panorama Park, 5600 W. 35th Ave., Wheat Ridge.
The event is free and early registration is encouraged. Participants will compete in the areas of base running, batting and throwing. Winners in each age category will be awarded ribbons and all participants will receive certificates. Top winners will then move to the regional competition where they will have a chance to advance to the state finals.
The Baseball Skills Challenge is sponsored by Wheat Ridge Parks and Recreation and the Colorado Rockies. The Colorado Parks & Recreation and the Rockies have managed the program for the past six years.
