Blog Entry 16 of 17 One Mother's Mischief
This blog is simply about my life. It's crazy and wonderful all at the same time. I'm a stay at home mom with 2 children that are 13 months apart.

The end of an era
Contributed by: Amanda Jerome   on 1/15/2008

It was in my not-so-distant past that I would spend many hours a night awake with my newborn son. Sleep seemed to be a commodity that I just couldn't afford.

Dang, and it was the one thing I wanted most. I lived my life three hours at a time, for feedings were never far off. My mother-in-law and I always joked we should move in together, as she couldn't sleep at night but wanted to turn in early, and I could stay up late but hated being up at night.

It would be the perfect pair for raising a newborn. Well, as time always does, a year has snuck up on me, for Wednesday is my son's first birthday.

We decided to have our children close so we could get through the newborn phase quickly. The first year just seems to really take its toll on you.

As I see people with newborns, I realize that I no longer have any little "babies" (unless you count my husband from time to time). For a brief moment I was almost saddened by the fact that we will no longer have any more babies in our house (GOD WILLING!).

I've reached a small milestone in my life. For once I can enjoy a moment of peace, however short-lived it may be. My kids can entertain themselves for short spurts and thankfully, sleep is more present in my house. So I say goodbye to the baby era and hello to toddlers!

The past year with my son Jesse has be a challenging and ever so rewarding one. While I was pregnant with him, I spent so much time worrying about having enough love in my heart for two children.

For Jesse, I grew a second heart all his own to greedily love him in! I love you Jesse Ero, Happy Birthday, my son!!

Happy birthday to Jesse! So now you will have more time to blog, right? Wait a minute, we're talking about toddlers here. I loved the rapid developmental changes in toddlerhood, but they're challenging to keep up with.

Thanks Bill. I think I'm the lucky one though! I have the 2 greatest kids a girl could ask for!

Happy Birthday, Jesse! From your blog, Amanda, I've deduced that Jesse is one lucky kid. Keep up the good work! A great-looking kid! You should be proud (it's okay to be proud if it involves your kids!)

Happy birthday, little Jesse! You are too cute. In that first photo, you can see so much emotion on your face, Amanda! It's really wonderful. Good to see you back!
