DNC to Denver: $LACKER$!
Contributed by: Brian Olson   on 5/13/2008

We're in big trouble. The Democratic National Committee thinks Denver has been goofing off raising the upfront money for the convention.

The city needs to have $40.6 million to give to the Dems by June 16th. Look for that number to be closer to $50 million.

Who in the heck does Mayor Hickenlooper and the rest of city government think they are? Where are their priorities? You'd think they had a city to run or something, schools to be made better, roads to fix etc.

Hizzoner the Lord High Mayor of Denver claims that raising cash for the scam known as the Democratic National Convention is "his first and highest priority."

Personally I think he's been goofing off running the city instead of begging for money so everyone coming here can drink lots of freeze booze and eat free food.

Heck, the city has already missed 2 of 3 deadlines.

I know exactly what is happening. Companies who promised big checks are taking another look at their bottom line and saying...."oops." Lots of other organizations that can't donate want to stage "events" instead. But the DNC is having none of that. Like Tom Cruise they're demanding "SHOW ME THE MONEY!"

Here's what I think we should tell the Democrats. And it isn't "good luck."

If you don't like the fact we have to run a city as well has throwing a party for a bunch of freeloaders, stick it. Take your party elsewhere. Maybe there's some other city stupid enough to get sucked in the day Denver did.

Sadly, I fear they're still going to come. Denver will come up with the cash and I have a funny feeling it will come at the expense of taxpayers.

We're not alone. The good folks in Minneapolis are going through the same thing. It's a shell game both political parties play every four years called a convention.

A bunch of people in silly hats come to the city and want to have a party. They just want you to pay for it.

It's a great con and they've been getting away with it for years.

Doesn't compare with the money we are spending in Iraq. Yeah, we taxpayers are paying for that too.

There must be a way to blame the oil companies for this money shortfall.
