Interesting football weekend ahead. Not one ranked team is playing another ranked team. Which I guess makes it sort of un-interesting.
Oh well. The Longhorns are playing either 'Bama or Florida for the National Champsionship so no worries, right?
But Yogi Berra was on to something with his famous quote, "It ain't over 'till it's over."
Saturday night Kansas comes to Austin, with baggage.
There's trouble in Lawrence. Is the "big" guy a bad guy? Will he even be on the sidelines?
This sort of thing can either wreak havoc on a team, or make them so p*ssed off they come out with guns ablazing. No doubt Mack Brown and company are ready, I fully expect to hear "McCoy to Shipley......TOUCHDOWN!" several times. I'd better hear it because I've bet on Texas to beat the 27.5 point spread in our weekly pool. Regardless of the spread, a win makes QB1 Colt McCoy the winningest college quarterback in NCAA history. #43 for #12. Sure wish I was his fishin' buddy.
A win against Kansas guarantees Texas wins the Big 12 South and a spot in the Big 12 Championship.
Thanksgiving night, the 'Horns journey to A&M where for some strange reason the Aggies are allowed to play with 12 men. It's right up there on the stadium. Does the NCAAknow about this? Or can't Aggies count?
Teams playing the Aggies at home sometimes run into trouble. They should have Gomer Pyle greeting visiting teams saying 'SOO-PRIZE SOO-PRIZ."
Again, the 2009 Longhorns should win. #12 for Mack Brown and company.
One more game before Pasadena, and that's the Big 12 Champsionship at the big new palace built by Jerry Jones in Dallas. Likely against the Cornhuskers. The parking lot will look like an RVConvention.
But the way the B(c)S works, you need to have zeros in the loss column. So no margin for error, no backing off, just win baby.
So, not quite time to pack your bags Horns fans. Let's join Mack, Colt, Jordan, Bevo and the rest of the boys and take it one game at a time.
By the way, if you need any advice about Pasadena, how to get to the Rose Bowl, where to stay, where to pick up the best Championship Souvenirs post-game etc, just let me know. Been there, done that.
:)
HOOK'EM HORNS!
P.S. Best wishes to the Wyoming Cowboys who take on TCU at home. Wonder how horny frogs do at 7200 feet? Who knew there were so many Cowboy fans in Idaho?
