Ten-hut!
As I say over and over, "While you can't judge a book by its cover, you CAN get a pretty good idea of what the story is about." You see, the old saying "You can't judge a book by its cover" came from the days when books were printed with nothing but the title on the cover. These days, bright graphics and pictures give prospective readers a sense of what they are going to find inside.
Same goes with your clothes. You are a walking advertisement for the kind of person other people are going to meet, so if your outer "cover" looks like a disaster, there's a good chance people are going to avoid you. If your outward appearance looks appealing, people are going to want to get to know you.
Now I'm not talking about putting EVERYTHING on display because that is hardly appealing. Studies have been done to support the notion that the more skin you show, the lower your IQ is perceived to be. (Look it up.) This goes for women AND men. If you'd like to be treated and respected as an intelligent human being, cover it up.
It is school clothes season again, and again it appears we are stuck in the 80s, fashion-wise. Clothes are still on the wild pattern, sloppy side, unfortunately, but on the bright side there isn't skin hanging out from places it shouldn't be hanging. I still think uniforms look that much nicer, that much more like one's education is being taken seriously. Heck, students wearing their uniforms in third world countries look neater than some of our "jeans as the national uniform" students. And some of these foreign students don't even have shoes to wear to school!
By the way, "nice jeans" is an oxymoron.
Present your best self when you are out and about as you never know who you are going to meet. And that person just may be the one to change your life. When you look approachable, the world opens up to you. When you look like you just rolled out of bed, the world will ignore you. You will never see a model sagging his pants with his cap on sideways in a Ferrari advertisement, folks.
There is a reason for the phrase "Dress to impress"; just make sure you are dressing to make a GOOD impression.
Dis-missed!
