Happy New Year to everyone out there. After several months of great training for the Houston Marathon, I've incurred a foot injury that will not allow me to run for the next several weeks. As a result, I'll be going into the marathon on January 18th with no essentially no running over a 5 week period prior to race day.
As a physical therapist,I thought it might be helpful to other injured runners to get ideas about how to take on such a journey in an effort to still have a decent race (my goal was originally 2:40 -- it's now been shifted, but not too much, to a 2:45ish goal).
So, over the next 3 1/2 weeks, I'll be making
regular entries about the replacement workouts at
www.uscorporatewellness.com/blog under the "Peek inside the Wellness TrainingJournal" category. Feel free to check it out if you're an injured runner looking for ideas for your own training. And then, after the 18th, I'll (gulp) post the results of the race as long as the foot heals enough to allow me to complete it.
Happy new year everyone - I hope you find it helpful.
