Candidates FOR Boulder

Please seriously consider the outrages and controversies of the last several years when voting for Boulder city council. Also consider voting FOR these candidates: Eric Rutherford, Susan Peterson, Nabil Karkamaz, Lisa Morzel, Phil Hernandez, and Rob Smoke. All are long-time residents and have stated or demonstrated their support for freedom of speech, the environment, civil and constitutional rights, and respect for the people of Boulder.

Rutherford- has much-needed character and ethics, experience and competence, Boulder native. Peterson - brings strong environmental education and restoration achievements. Karkamaz - one of the most intelligent, capable, open and educated candidates, long-time small businessman with integrity. Morzel- a deep knowledge of issues and commitment to listen to and learn from the public. Hernandez - a widely respected voice for real diversity. Smoke - perspective, honesty, and understanding on city issues as a broadcast journalist, activist, and commissioner. Several others are qualified and worthy: Pearson, Coleman, Appelbaum, Quilling. Brigham is the unofficial protest vote.

The rest of the candidates have serious knocks against them or are thoroughly enmeshed in the more-of-the-same unrepresentative, self-anointed "ruling-class" of Boulder. Vote for other candidates or the endorsements from the same-old sources if you want more building height exemptions handed out like Halloween candy to favored developers; more incompetence like over $500,000 spent on prairie dogs only to have the city illegally destroy most of a colony and wetland next to it while turning Arapahoe at Foothills into a curvy ski slalom bumper-car course; more soulless cookie-cutter Southern-California style development and profiteering; more special interest micromanaging extremists who use environmentalism like a wolf uses a sheep hide; more malfeasance like the BTV debacle, Washington school density, Transit Village where the trains can't stop, horrible (intentional?) traffic congestion; more messed-up ballot issues (please vote NO on the idiotic city issues this year); and far too many more to list. OPPOSE the patronage and favoritism of control freaks Gray, O'hashi, and Massey.

Mad As Hell? You can still vote even if you recycled or trashed your ballot - go to the Clerk and Recorders Office on 33rd St. to vote or drop off your ballot during business hours or until 7pm Tuesday, it's too late to mail them now.
