Blog Entry 2 of 2 Brain training? Can learning be easier?
Hi! I'm Amber Tuma, Director of the LearningRx Training Center in Westminster. LearningRx learning centers provide cognitive skills training that empowers every child to learn faster and easier. Tutoring and other programs reinforce WHAT students must learn (information). LearningRx learning centers identify and strengthen the skills behind HOW students learn. We provide testing and life-changing training for students of all ages who desire to learn and read better for life. LearningRx specializes in identifying and correcting the underlying cognitive skill deficiencies that keep people from achieving their full potential in school, business or life. The program was pioneered by Dr. Ken Gibson and refined over a decade of research and testing. Using a comprehensive skills assessment test and intensive one-on-one training, certified trainers quickly and effectively enhance weak cognitive skills such as attention, memory, processing speed, and problem solving. I invite you to give me a call at (303) 412-6303, reply to this blog or visit learningrx.com.

Dyslexia doesn't have to be permanent

Dyslexia is not a label that has to follow children through life.

"There is now proof from cognitive brain training experts that the learning struggles associated with dyslexia can actually be significantly reduced or essentially eliminated," says Paul Lundeen, owner of local area LearningRx . "In almost every case, learning skills testing reveals that these children have cognitive deficits, specifically in phonemic awareness and auditory processing. It's not about reversing letters, as many people think. This is actually great news because it means that most kids can strengthen these weak skills with an intense cognitive training program."

LearningRx offers a free screening tool to kids and teens that will evaluate for several types of learning issues. Here are some sample questions:

1. Does your child misread similar words?

2. Does your child need words repeated when taking spelling tests?

3. Is your child's oral reading slow or choppy?

4. Does your child make spelling errors in written assignments?

5. Does your child have difficulty sounding out unknown words?

If you answered "yes" to three or more of these questions, visit www.learningrx.com to take the full screening test.
