Greetings to everyone,
Let me first apologies for my absence. I am sorry for not writing in a long time. It is completely unacceptable and again I am sorry. OK now that we got that out of the way lets move on to some other things.
I will go back to last week in which we played the U-23 Rapids. So we can keep things straight we will refer to the U-23 team as the Boulder Rapids and our team as just the Rapids. Is that cool with everyone? I hope so. OK, so the game was played at 5pm in Boulder and the temperature outside was around 94 degrees. To say it was hot would be an understatement. The game was won by the Rapids,2-1, with Omar Cummings bagging himself two squirrels. We controlled most of the game and had numerous opportunities to score. It was a good win and one that we will take. Most of the guys playing had been working camp starting at 9am that morning and ending around 2pm. So it was a good exercise for us and a good win.
As I said before we have been doing lots of camps. Shaping the youth of today to become top footballers of tomorrow. I just made that up right now and I kinda like it, I might need to take that to the front office and get that as a slogan for next year. Sorry about that tangent. Yes, so lots of camps and it isactually good fun to be able to interact with young kids who look up to us. Murph runs the camps and there is usually at least 7-9 guys working the camps. I wish when I was 8 years old I couldhave received coaching from professional players. Heck, I wish I was 8 period. I mean how good of life is that when you are that young. The only thing they have to worry about is difference in spelling 'their' and 'there.' Not too bad of a life. Now I know what's coming, all we Rapids players have to worry about it playing a sport for a couple hours a day and that is it. Fair enough. I will not argue with you because working these camps from 9-3pm gives me a feel for what a 'normal' job is. And let me tell you, I am not sure I could do that normal 9-5pm thing. How are you not dead tired at the end of the day? My hat goes off to you.
We have some crucial games coming up this week. We are at DC on Thursday and at Chi town on Sunday. Now I know everyone is aware that the past few games we have not gotten the results we want. I can assure you that the players are aware of this as well. Training has been good this week with everyone knowing that these games are super important and results must be attained.
Our next home game is the beloved 4th of July game. I look forward to seeing everyone out there and hopefully we will not have to waittoo long in the parking lot after the game. However withall 25,000 of us tryto leave the park at the same time it can be tricky, good luck to the event staff on figuring that out. Front office that is not a knock on you so please don't take it that way, I am just saying that getting that many people out of the complex might be a little difficult.
See you next week and wish us luck this week!
Stephen
p.s. I must acknowledge that I might not have wrote if it were not for the strong urging of a great and loyal fan, Chili. So everyone can thankher for making this happen.
