Swallow Hill Music Association is pleased to announce the appointment of David Weingarden as its new Director of Concerts/Talent Buyer beginning December 1. Weingarden will oversee the nonprofit arts organization's concert department and will continue the tradition of bringing more than 200 high-quality roots and acoustic concerts each year to the historical venue.
"Swallow Hill is very excited to have David on board. I believe he has the perfect balance of vision and forward thinking blended with honoring the legacy that we have always treasured and worked hard to preserve. He has the right temperament and enthusiasm for the job and I know he'll integrate well with our community," says Tom Scharf, Executive Director.
"Swallow Hill is a cultural gem and I'm very thankful to have been given this opportunity as the organization embarks on its 30 th anniversary. It's an exciting time for Tom Scharf, Jim Butler, the Board and the entire staff. As the organization looks ahead to the next 30 years, we must seek out and develop emerging artists and, at the same time, continue to bring in the thoroughbreds like the legendary artists set to perform at the 2009 RootsFest at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House with Hot Rize, Leo Kottke and Shawn Colvin," says Weingarden.
Weingarden enjoyed consulting work with Swallow Hill and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra upon relocating to Colorado from California in 2007-2008. He joins the organization from Midavo Entertainment LLC, a booking agency for corporate and private events, where he has been CEO. In San Francisco, Weingarden was the Director of Operations, Touring, and Merchandise for the Grammy Award-winning group, Chanticleer. He has also worked as Tour Merchandise Manager for multi-platinum artists The Verve Pipe and Tonic, served as Front of House Manager for the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, and worked for American General Media and Sports Express in Durango, Colo.
"Art, music and culture are key to a city's development. Swallow Hill is a wonderful combination of them all. It's a community center and I am proud to be a part of it," says Weingarden.
