No on rec center tax increase
Contributed by: Laura Bianchi   on 4/16/2008

Once again our Jefferson County administrators are asking for a tax increase on our property taxes, this time for the Recreation Centers. What were they doing with the windfall of property tax mill levy revenue they were raking in the past several consecutive years when home prices in our neighborhood were skyrocketing?

I'm voting NO, if they can't save and budget their money, especially in the really good years, I have no expectation that they can budget any better while raising our taxes besides. NO NO NO! I will NOT subsidize JeffCo's mismanagement of funds when you run out of cash in the lean years. Us little citizens have to save for the future when things are going well, so that we have money to fall back on when the economy gets rough. It's called MANAGING MONEY and PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE. Our Jefferson County budget administrators ought to try it! Nobody's going to bail ME out when I don't budget my money wisely. And we shouldn't bail out the Rec Centers either. This is a wealthy area of town compared to most and you JeffCo budget people ought to be able to make ends meet from property tax revenue, without raising taxes yet again. Shame on you!
