Blog Entry 2 of 2 From Head To Troll Hair Studio
I am an independent Hair Stylist in the Littleton area. I have been licensed since 1996, but doing hair since 1977. Three months ago I had Weight Loss Surgery and I have already lost over 60 lbs. I am on the way to a new life! So along with the physical changes - I have made a professional change. I have moved to a new-concept studio salon and I am looking for more clients. I have a natural nack for doing hair. I started doing hair when I was a teenager, just by watching my mom get her hair cut at a salon and then I could repeat it at home. I would also be able to look at pictures my friends gave me and figure out how to cut their hair. I like having the creative outlet and the instant gratification of the smile on my client's faces when they see the end result. Let me earn your trust....email me and we can talk about a time for you to come in for a free consultation.

Getting our kids involved in Westernaires
Contributed by: Yvonne Stanley   on 1/15/2008

When my husband was a kid he belonged to Westernaires. Throughout our marriage he has mentioned the activities they did and the other kids he met. So when his mom suggested that we get our kids into Westernairs we both frowned because we thought "That's expensive"....Quite the contrary! We pulled up the Westernaires.org website and to our surprise the annual dues are only $25! They are a non-profit organization for kids aged 9-19.

We talked to our 10 year old and asked her if she would like to ride horses and she lit up!! Our very first visit when we began Westernaires was a 2 hour safety meeting. They explained to the kids how dangerous a horse can be if they were not respected and treated well.

It's now been several months since we as a family have joined Westernaires. We have talked about the significant change in our 10 year old daughter we've seen. She used to be afraid of EVERYTHING... now she is confident and extremely outgoing. I even think this has enhanced her personality in a great way.

We are now towards the end of a 5 week "Grooming" class where they teach the kids how to brush dirt from the horses fur, pick out the horses' hooves to make for more comfortable walking, how to make sure the horse is ready to be saddled. They have taught them how to put on a saddle and bridle. Most importantly they have shown them how to communicate with the horses to let them know they are helping them.

We also have an 8 year old. She is not old enough to ride - so the Westernaires have a "Clown" program too. The younger siblings are able to participate until they're old enough to ride.

The clowns do an opening entertainment act before the older kids put on their show. It was a lot of fun this summer and I loved spending so much time with not only the kids - buy my husband too. I had never seen the "Annual Show" for the Westernaires!

So if you ever want to get your kids involved in a program - I think Westernaires is IT!! My husband and I are talking about joining an adult class later on this year.
