A NEW KIND OF CHURCH--Not Just For Sundays Anymore
Contributed by: Wayne Hanson   on 5/22/2008

Summit Church of Castle Rock is a new kind of church (meeting at Castle View High School, 10:30 a.m. Sundays). Summit is part of a new movement of Interdenominational churches in America that conduct ministry in a "Life-Giving" way. In other words, Summit Church focuses on the fundamental elements that make a church healthy. "The goal of every Life-Giving church is to bring the scriptures alive to people and 'to put the cookies on the bottom shelf' says Wayne Hanson, Lead Pastor of Summit Church, "kids love our Church and we're committed to reaching this generation for Christ. We're a church that believes in giving the ministry away. Jesus said, "Freely you have received, so freely give." We have a coffee ministry (Lattes, Mochas etc.) but it's free. We have a resource center with DVDs, CDs, Books and T-shirts but it's ALL FREE. We believe that contributing members tithe their income so we're not going to charge you for resources (because they're already paid for)!'

The music at Summit Church is contemporary. Worship Leaders write and record original music and the church even released a new CD in March called, "You Are My God." (available on iTunes® and FREE at the Summit Resource center). Using the "Team Ministry" concept at Summit there are many different leaders on the platform and lots of musical variety, but these things are not really new to the church; what really makes Summit Church different is the other 6 days a week of ministry.

Summit Church is committed to "Free Market" Small Groups. Each Semester, a whole new batch of Small Groups is launched to meet people's needs wherever they may be spiritually. Summit has all kinds of groups from, Dinners for 8 to Bible Studies to Flag Football! Pastor Wayne says, "We're very committed to building relationships. That's why Small Groups are such a high priority for us. It's just one more thing that makes us Life-Giving."

This fall, Summit Church will be launching a College Internship program called, Summit Leadership Academy (SLA) where 19-25 year old students from all over the country will be trained in bible, leadership, missions and church planting for college credit. So Church isn't just for Sundays anymore!

On Sundays, though, Summit Church is Home of the 29-minute message. Pastor Wayne says, "Our messages are designed to strengthen your family, through practical talks on; Marriage, Dating, Parenting, Finances, Leadership and the Foundations of Christianity." Wednesday night Bible Studies and various Summit Groups are designed for deeper and longer times of growing closer to God but Sunday Mornings are designed to be quick and inspiring. "We know you want to enjoy Colorado with your family. So, start your Sunday right with a quick visit to Summit!" Says Pastor Wayne.
