My daughter had her second cancer surgery a week ago today (Wednesday, July 23, 2008). I got a phone call that the surgery was being performed. I didn't get another phone call until last night that lasted about five minutes. I don't like to write when all I have to write about is my family falling apart.

I also got the packages one week ago today. I finally got a phone number that was answered by the local post office after about five tries on the generic number that's printed on all the cards. I call it our Canadian connection.

My mail had been stopped, apparently on July 10 th. They claimed at the post office that it had been stopped through a computer command. I've stopped my mail almost a dozen times when I was making the yearly trip to San Diego. That's when I was working and the fare was reasonable. I always used the phone. I never once used the computer. It is now 1:10 p.m. Do you know where your mail is?

I got a call from the Lakewood post office today. They still don't have any explanation. So I'm going to quit ordering ANYTHING on the computer until I can get this figured out (which will probably be never). Someone is definitely tinkering with my post office account on the computer.

Some people seem to think that the FDIC, a department of the United States Government, is guaranteeing bank deposits up to $100,000. No, they are guaranteeing the accounts up to what $100,000 used to be worth. I used to be able to buy 10 assorted boxes of cereal for around 79 cents. Now a four dollar plus box of cereal contains about three bowels of cereal. The $100,000 that's being guaranteed is worth about $35,000 when you go to spend it. Not only that, gas is now around $6.50 a gallon. Not only do you pay when you put it in your car, you're also paying your share to fill up the trucks thathauls everything, which is why I can carry $35.00 of groceries in three bags.

Strange that The Mole is one of theleast watched shows on TV and yet has the most websites on the Internet. Everyone who watches it must blog at least 100 times a week. Back on June 24 th, I picked Nicole at The Mole and Mark as the winner of the show. Next Monday will prove if I was right. Chris, a graphics artist, is the wild card and turned out to be much more resilient that he first appeared. But I think next Monday we'll see Chris leave the show. Then the only question left is who is the Mole? Mark or Nicole. I'm still betting on Nicole.

If I hear of anything interesting AND AFFORDABLE happening in Lakewood, I'll let you know. In the meantime, like a large chunck of Lakewood, THE ZIT JOURNAL IS OUT OF BUSINESS.
