Blog Entry 8 of 8 Dooty and Honor
My take on the political scene, spiced with bits of life-as-it-happens. I'll try and separate the fertilizer from the facts, at least as I see it. Coming from the perspective of a not-so-average guy with little or no respect for sacred cows, moose or squirrels. A master debater and wielder of a needle-sharp wit guaranteed to pop the toughest gasbag. Count on seeing people you know and love lampooned and harpooned with impunity and puns galore. No one will be spared, that's a promise. (Note: this blog not recommended for the humor-impaired and you know who you is.)

Fund a Mentalist

The Department of Health and Human Services Monday released a proposal that allows any federal grant recipient to obstruct a woman's access to contraception.

Yep, that's right, the religious whackjobs in the Bush 'administration' think they can just change the rules (a favorite of the far, far, flailing right).

By just tweaking a definition, it could become illegal to get any form of contraception. The hell with Roe v Wade, buy a condom - go to jail.

Somehow I don' think this will pass as there are too many malemembers of Congress who depend on standard, female instituted, forms of birth control to keep various scandals from surfacing - but I'm speaking from viewpoint of the reality-based community... so who knows what the loons at the top will do.

Oh, and just for completeness, all forms of contraception would de-facto become 'abortion' - IUDs, diaphragms, condoms - everything. Not enough to claim that condoms ' don't work' (which is a bloody, bloody lie and people will be going to hell for repeating it) no, the 'beaters' (bibles, kids, pretty much everything) want it all made a crime. To hell with the Constitution and rights, we'll just make up any damn law we want!

This is probably the only time when the loose morals of the GOP Congress might have a positive effect on the country. The same can be said of more than a fewmembers of the holier-than-thou religious right - something tells me if contraception is crimminalized, then STD treatments aren't far behind (pardon the pun).

Think it can't happen in America?

How many people thought the telecoms would get off scot-free?

Get out the vote kids, the lunatic fringe is on the job and workin overtime - and there's still a dangerous madman on the loose...

...at least until this coming November.

Ever since Griswold v. Connecticut, one of the primary goals of the religious conservative movement has been to re-establish bans on contraception, even though they don't like most people to know it.

We are living in an age when it is important to not assume that sanity will prevail. Certain people simply cannot let others , who are no threat to the common good, live there lives as they feel is best.
