Blog Entry 21 of 21 It's Mommy's Turn To Talk
A chance for one mommy to get a word in and a moment to reflect.

"Where to, Miss Daisy?"

Hi Peeps!

Well, quite a bit of newsworthy items have been happening around our household lately, and I have a few minutes to share them with you. Oh, try not to get too excited. "Big news" for us isn't usually considered "big news" for normal people. Like if we all go to a movie (which we did ) that is big news. I'll tell you all about that in a minute.

I have to share our happy news that Billy has had his first of two eye surgeries. The doctor is replacing both lens due to severe cataracts. I dropped him off at the hospital and was off to class for a test. Billy had to wait a couple hours for me to finish class and pick up our son, so when I got there to pick him up, he was asleep. The nurses were all surrounding him with grapes and blankets, and special happy drugs to relax him if/when he woke up. They informed me what a wonderful man he was and how I need to take very good care of him. I think they secretly hoped I didn't exist and they could marry him.

I woke him up and said, "Let's get moving-I'm starving!" We headed home and he's been healing very nicely for the last four days. I've had to drive him around quite a bit-thus the blog title, since every time we get in the van, I look over and say in my best southern accent, "Where to, Miss Daisy?" Billy has a good sense of humor normally, but this one seems wasted on him. Which is embarrassing for me, since I think it's HILARIOUS and laugh every time I say it.

Anyway, in other news, I got new glasses. Yeah, that's right. Billy's not the only one with eye issues people. I had to take all three kids after school with me to pick up my new frames which is never very fun. When you walk into a doctor's office that isn't a normal place for kids people throw looks around to each other that say, "Oh dear, I hope they don't get rowdy and such". So I knew we had to hurry. The gal brought me the glasses and I was thrilled to discover they were the perfect prescription. Unfortunately they were not the frames I picked. The nice lady tried to find the ones I ordered and couldn't. I tried the wrong ones on again, and noticed they had a little bling on them. I also asked Faith what she thought-since she has much better fashion sense than I do. She liked them, and I liked them, so we said, "wrap 'em up lady-we'll take them!" I love it when I can solve a problem like Maria.

The other big news is that Miss Daisy's mom is here. She arrived on Friday from Seattle and the kids are very happy! They have someone else to play UNO with, and we are thrilled we have someone to watch the children so we can go to Costco without the children! We also had us a BIG night and went to see A Christmas Carol. About five minutes into the film I realized that Will is going to be sleeping with us for the next month. And possibly Jack. Faith was unfazed. The movie was really neat ( "neat" is my best descriptor word for all movies I like) and as usual, was a beautiful story.

I send out into blogworld a Very Happy Thanksgiving to you all-I hope the day is filled with family and love and a sense of gratitude for the life we have. Thanks for letting me share-

Until next time...
