Blog Entry 6 of 6 Girl Talk
I am new to Denver, a recent college graduate in Journalism. This blog will talk about all the random thoughts that cross a 23-year-old female's mind. My interests are in art, theater and writing and I would like to share that with you, my neighbors. I enjoy being with my friends, my two cats, Jack and Cessie, and plan on experiencing all the fun things to do in Denver.

The conversion to a boy

We all know that Halloween is just an excuse for girls to dress up well.... scandalous. This year I decided to do the extreme opposite. Be the most unattractive, hilarious thing I could think of.

Who else than Napoleon Dynamite.

When I got into my getup, I realized that I was completely transformed. I started talking like him, walking like him and even dancing like him all night. I don't know if it is my extreme acting abilities, the thespian I am, but I think I pulled it off.

The most peculiar thing about the whole experience was I felt like a celebrity. All night random people wanted their picture taken with me. Everywhere we went we could here people chanting, "Napoleon! Napoleon!"

And! I had more game dressed up as Napoleon than I ever had dress as, well, myself. Guys dug it.

Example:

Adriann is my friend. She's that one friend you have that always has mad game.

Let's set the scene.

I'm on a stage at (unknown bar) dancing the moonwalk among scantily clad girls. Crowd and DJ start cheering for Napoleon (me). Adriann is talking with young man. I guess I should say macking.

I hop off the stage and introduce myself to young man and walk off. Young man asks Adriann, "Is that your friend?"

"Yes," she says.

"Is she single?" Young man asks.

"Uh....yeah." Adriann replies with eyebrow raised.

"I bet she is hot." Young man says with perverted smile.

"Yes, she's cute. You get that through the Napoleon costume?" Adriann asks.

"Yeah, I don't know what it is." Young man says.

"Uh...okay." she says.

Young man stares at me.

"Can I get her number?" He asks.

"No." she says annoyed.

Adriann walks off in confusion.

What? Do guys like Napoleon Dynamite so much that they would actually ask for my number? Maybe I should wear that costume more often.

Post your Halloween costumes here. I want to hear how your night went.

Until next year, in the words of Napoleon Dynamite, "Just follow your heart. That's what I do."

Ha. That's awesome. I wish I could have seen you, Laura! I wore my pajamas and slippers and some hastily-made pipe cleaner antennae (a bedbug -- get it?). Anyway, not one person asked what I was, but at least I was comfortable!

"Why are you all sweaty?" "Been practicing." "Practicing what?" "My dance moves." Awesome!
