Blog Entry 298 of 298 Average Joe. Not.
I was born, therefore I blog. I have a sense of the ridiculous and need an outlet for that. I can be serious too and love to write little stories about little known but important people and events. And I love wildlife and travel and will always try to share those experiences. I make things up (it's called fiction) and am amused when readers are duped into believing they are true.

Parker artist extends helping hand

The cities and people of the Philippines have been devastated this year by typhoons and flooding. Manila happens to be the site for this year's International Art Festival, organized by the Lantern of the East, Los Angeles (L.E.L.A.).

Four Parker Artists Guild (PAG) members, Gayle Crites, Theresa Lugo, Pam-Spika-Nicholson and Barbara Wilson, are participating in this event with Tadashi Hayakawa. The opening reception was postponed to Nov. 28 due to the recent disaster in the city. It seems to be fate that L.E.L.A. chose Manila for this year's art festival, because right now the city needs L.E.L.A. more than ever. Now is the time for L.E.L.A. to fulfill its goal to build a bridge among all ethnicities in the world by using art as a tool, and to work together toward our ultimate goal - Peace, Harmony and Love.

The International Art Festival can provide moral support and hope to the people in Manila, and bring back smiles to the children's faces through special workshops for the children. L.E.L.A. also can raise money for the people in Manila by appealing to international artists to participate in fund raising, just as Tadashi Hayakawa is doing here in the city of Parker.

Tadashi Hayakawa feels very fortunate that he has his art as a tool to help the children in Manila. Also he is grateful to have Mr. Cal Turner Jr., for the last 5 1/2 years, as his friend and mentor who taught him how important it is to contribute to society, and what type of manner he should display to help the community. Recently, Dr. Stan Worley joined Mr. Cal Turner Jr. to back-up Tadashi's contribution to the community through his art, whenever necessary.

Tadashi also wants to express his appreciation to the volunteers of P.A.G. who are assisting with this fund raising.

To make this type of the events successful requires three parties working together. One is the party to create the event. Second is the party to assist physically, such as Ms. Barbara Wilson and Ms. Linda Ginsberg who have been Tadashi's assistants for the last 6 years in events such as the fund raising, arranging free workshops and a special project creating the mural by over 80 children. Third is you, the public, who participate in the event and help others.

Let's work together and try to bring Peace, Harmony and Love among all of us.

To Help the Children in Manila, Philippines Tadashi Hayakawa has donated over 100 paintings, drawings and prints for this fund raising. Every work is available for 20% of the original price. It is not an auction but an opportunity to obtain original art from an Internationally recognized artist for 1/5 th of its original cost.
