Here are some of the highlights from the week in police blotter around the metro area:
SUPREME IRONY: 'ALIBI' TIES SUSPECT TO ROBBERY -- Denver
When you're suspected of robbery, the last place you want to go is where everybody knows your name. Police said a 23-year-old Denver man attacked and robbed a 51-year-old man after the older man forced his way through a crowd in front of Tryst lounge, 1512 Larimer St., and bumped into his girlfriend. The suspect reportedly kicked the man in the back, punched him twice in the face, took his cell phone and fled on foot. In an escape to ditch his pursuer, police said, the suspect cut through Alibi lounge, 1523 Market St., where he used to work. The lounge's manager recognized the suspect and provided police with the suspect's name and information.
SLOW DOWN OR I'LL SPIT ON YOU -- Louisville
Police were dispatched to an incident involving a male pedestrian who was in the road and was allegedly hit by a car at 7:30 a.m. April 13 at the crosswalk at Via Appia Way and Via Capri. The man said a speeding car came to a "screeching halt" and hit him in the thigh as it came to a stop. The driver said the man looked intoxicated and had jumped in the road and started yelling at him to slow down. The driver said he told the man to go home and sleep it off. The man then spit on the driver and said he was going to call the police. The driver responded, "Good luck with that. I got your DNA on my shirt." The driver did not pursue charges against the man who spit on him.
COOKIE THIEF ARRESTED -- Littleton
A deputy issued a man a summons for theft April 16 after he was allegedly seen trying to steal two packages of cookies at Walgreen's, 7443 W. Chatfield Ave. A store employee reported seeing the man conceal the cookies in his jacket and try to leave the story without paying.
